Samuel Dwight Chown
Chown, Samuel Dwight (1853-1933), clergyman and author, was born in Kingston, Ontario, on April 11, 1853. He was educated at Victoria University (D .D., 1898), and was ordained a Methodist minister in 1879. From 1914 until the union of the Methodist with the Presbyterian and Congregational Churches in 1925, he was general superintendent of the Methodist Church ; and his influence was no small factor in bringing this union about. He died in Toronto, on January 30, 1933 . He was the author of Church union in Canada (Toronto. 1930). Source : W.
