Pierre Amable De Bonne

DeBonne, Pierre Amable (1758-1816), executive councillor of Lower Canada, was born at Montreal on November 25, 1758, the son of the Chevalier Louis de Bonne de Misèle, captain in the regiment of Condé, and Marie-Louise Prudhomme. He was educated at the Quebec Seminary, and in 1780 was licensed to practise law. He sat in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1792 to 1796 as the member for York, from 1796 to 1804 as the member for Three Rivers, and from 1804 to 1810 as the member for Quebec county. In the house he was the chief protagonist of the "Chateau party"; and in 1794 he was appointed a judge, first of the court of Common Pleas, and then of the court of King's Bench. In 1794 he was appointed also a member of the Executive Council. He retired from the bench in 1812; and he died at Beauport, Lower Canada, on September 6, 1816.
