Nicol Finlayson
Finlayson, Nicol (1794-1877), fur-trader, was born at Foderty, Rossshire, Scotland, in 1794, the son of John Finlayson, later of Montreal, and elder brother of Duncan Finlayson. He entered the service of the Hudson's Bay Company in 1815. He was promoted to the rank of chief trader in 1833, and to that of chief factor in 1846.
