Mrs. [Margaret Helena] Héliodore Fortier

 

Born New York (came to Canada at age of one year), daughter of Patrick D. Curran and Mary Margaret Murphy. Educated: Convent of the Notre-Dame, Sherbrooke, Que. President of Montreal Women's Club; President of the Housewives League. Actively interested in the work of many associations formed during the time of peace and war to meet conditions, "fully recognizing that the work of these organizations in bringing women of different races and religions together, all imbued with the spirit of desire for the common good, help solve many problems in the social life of our city and country, for only in unity of mind and purpose can come true strength and ultimate success." Clubs: Canadian Women's Club; Women's Liberal Club. Societies: Catholic Women's League (President); Local Council of Women, etc. Recreations: Reading and enjoyment of family life. Married Héliodore Fortier, 1879; has two sons and five daughters. Roman Catholic. Residence: 44 Rosemount Ave., Westmount, Que.
