Malcom Fraser

Fraser, Malcolm (1733?-1815), soldier and seignior, was born in Scotland about 1733, and in 1757 he obtained a commission in the 78th Highlanders. He served under Wolfe at Louisbourg and Quebec in 1758-9; and he was wounded at Ste. Foy in 1760. In 1761 he acquired the seigniory of Mount Murray at Malbaie; and here he spent, with intervals of absence, the rest of his life. In 1775 he took part in the defence of Quebec against the Americans; and he served as a captain in the Royal Highland Emigrants during the later stages of the revolutionary war. He died at Malbaie, Lower Canada, on June 17, 1815. His journal of the siege of Quebec in 1759 is published in the Transactions of the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec for 1868. See G. M.
