Laval
Laval, a county in western Quebec, comprising Ile Jesus, an island formed by the Jésus and Prairie rivers, branches of the Ottawa river that flow into the St. Lawrence river east of the island of Montreal. It was named after Bishop Laval, because Ile Jésus was granted to him in 1699. [Laval is now the name given to the city that was formed by the merger of all the former villages, towns and cities situated on Ile Jésus. Laval is now the third largest city in Québec. For its current population see this page.]
Laval, a village in Nicolet county, Quebec , on the south bank of the St. Lawrence river , opposite Three Rivers, and on the Canadian National Railway. The railway station is named "Doucet's Landing." [For more information on Laval, consult the article at the Canadian Encyclopedia site or the city's website.] Source : W.
