King's Royal Regiment of New York

King's Royal Regiment of New York, a Loyalist regiment recruited during the American Revolution among the Highland Scottish and other settlers on Sir John Johnson's estates in the Mohawk valley. It was commanded by Sir John Johnson, and was sometimes known as "Sir John Johnson's Corps" or as the "Royal Greens." It eventually reached a strength of two battalions, and it played a distinguished part in the War of the American Revolution on the Canadian frontier. After the War, the regiment was disbanded; and the First Battalion was settled on the north shore of the St. Lawrence above lake St. Francis, while the Second Battalion received allotments of land on the bay of Quinté.
