John Galbraith
Galbraith, John (1846-1914), educationist, was born at Montreal on September 5, 1846. He was educated at the University of Toronto (B.A., 1868; M.A., 1875; LL.D., 1902), and became a civil engineer. In 1878 he was appointed to the chair of engineering in the School of Practical Science, Toronto ; and in 1889 he became principal of the School. When the School of Practical Science was absorbed by the University of Toronto in 1906, he became dean of the faculty of applied science in the university. He died at Go-Home Bay, Ontario, on July 22, 1914. In 1903 he was made an LL.D. of Queen's University, Kingston. Source: W.
