James Thomas Donald

 

DONALD, James Thomas, M.A., D.C.L. - President, J. T. Donald & Co., Ltd., Analysts and Engineers, 40 Belmont Street, Montreal. Born St. Catherines, Ont., Oct. 30th, 1856, son of James and Martha (Oxborro) Donald. Educated: Montreal High School and McGill University ; on graduation was asked by the late Sir Wm. Dawson to introduce the teaching of Science (Chemistry and Botany), in the High Schools, on the staff of which he remained for many years. For eighteen years Professor of Chemistry in the Medical Faculty of Bishop's College (now merged with McGill). For a number of years Official Analyst to the Dominion Government, District of Montreal. At present, Member of the Advisory Board of Food Standards, Canada . Recreations: Botany and gardening. Clubs and Societies: Laval-sur-le-Lac (Golf); Society of Chemical Industry; American Chemical Society. Married Elizabeth Willow (deceased 1884); secondly, Evelyn Belliss, Dec., 1887. Has two sons and one daughter. Presbyterian. Residence: 70 Cedar Ave., Montreal.
