Jack Evans
Manager, Evans Bros., Dry Goods, 5716 Sherbrooke St., W., Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Que. Born Berriew, Montgomeryshire, N. Wales, July 29, 1889, son of William Evans. Educated: Endowed School; Berriew and Welshpool County School. (Central Welsh Board Junior Examination). Three years apprenticeship to Dry Goods at R. & R. Hughes, Oswestry, England; two years at Messrs. John Barnes & Co., Finchley Road, London, England. Came to Canada, 1910. Manager of Branch Store 1914 to Sept., 1915. Opened Branch Store for Evans Bros., Nov., 1919, at 5716 Sherbrooke St. W., where he is at present Manager. Joined 87th Canadian Grenadier Guards, Sept. 4, 1915; went to France with Battalion; wounded in the battle of the Somme, Nov. 18, 1916. Married Mabel Constance Lee, Sept. 15, 1919. Has two daughters. Club: Kiwanis. Society: St. David's Welsh Society. Recreations: Football, cricket, tennis. Methodist. Residence: 48 Melrose Ave., Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Que.
