Chancellor, Belgian Consulate, Montreal; Journalist. Born Verviers, Belgium, Feb. 6, 1876, son of D. D. Chaballe and E. M. Etienne. Educated: Municipal, High and Military Schools in Belgium. Professor at the Military School of Fencing and Gymnastic, Brussels, Belgium; General Inspector in Physical Training for the Catholic Board of School Commissioners of Montreal; Acting Belgian Consul during 1920, then Chancellor to the same Consulate. President, G. W. V. A., Belgian Branch; Treasurer, Belgian Benevolent Society; Member Committee for the Reconstruction of the University of Louvain . Served with Belgian Army in Permanant Forces and in Belgian Congo ; in Canadian Militia since 1903; overseas with the 1st Contingent, C.E.F., as Captain and Orderly Officer, 4th Bde. Staff H.Q.; transferred to the 22nd Bn. C.E.F.; wounded twice, at Courcelette and Vimy; awarded the Military Cross for "Conspicuous gallantry at Courcelette"; Member of the Canadian Military Mission in Paris, under Lord Brooke; Commanding the Quebec Garrison from June, 1918, to March, 1919; President, Permanent Court Martial; O. C. Permanent Conducting Staff; awarded Military Cross, Legion of Honour, Order of Leopold with Palme, Croix de Guerre with Palme, Belgian Military Cross, and Service Medals; now Officer Commanding The Chateauguay Regiment. Married A. M. de Pairon, April 5, 1903 ; has one son and one daughter. Clubs: Press Club; N.A.A.A.; Honorary Member, C.M.R. Mess. Society: K. of C., Lafontaine Council. Roman Catholic.
