Henry George Vennor

 

Vennor, Henry George (1841-1884), geologist, ornithologist, and meteorologist, was born in Montreal, in 1841, the son of a hardware merchant. He was educated at the Montreal High School and at McGill University . prom 1865 to 1880 he was on the staff of the Geological Survey of Canada; and his reports contained much of practical value. In 1877 he published the first of his Vennor almanacs, in which he ventured, with surprising success, to predict the weather. As an ornithologist, his chief work was Our birds of prey (Montreal, 1876). He died in Montreal on June 8, 1884.
