Henry Birks

Born Montreal, Que., Nov. 30th, 1840 Son of John and Anne (Massey) Birks, of Barnsley and Darfield, Yorkshire. Educated: High School, Montreal. Married Harriet Phillips Walker, daughter of Wm. Walker, Brantford, Ont., Jan. 16th, 1868. Has three sons. Served in Victoria Rifles during Fenian Raids, 1866. With Savage & Lyman, Notre Dame St., Montreal, 1857; became junior partner, 1868; established present business, March lst, 1879; Company incorporated, 1904. Governor, Montreal General Hospital; Governor, Notre-Dame Hospital; Governor, Western Hospital; Governor, Verdun Asylum; Governor, House of Refuge and Old Folks' Home. Clubs: Automobile Club of Canada ; Art Assoc. of Montreal. Presbyterian. Residence: The Linton, Sherbrooke St., W., Montreal.
