Henri Elzéar Juchereau Duchesnay

Duchesnay, Henri Elzéar Juchereau (1809-1871), senator of Canada, was born at Beauport, Lower Canada, on July 19, 1809, the third son of the Hon. Antoine Louis Juchereau Duchesnay. He was called to the bar of lower Canada in 1832, and from 1839 to 1843 he was police magistrate of Montreal. In 1856 he was elected to the Legislative Council of Canada for the division of Lauzon; and in 1867 he was called by royal proclamation to the Senate of Canada. He died at Ste. Marie de la Beauce, Quebec, on May 12, 1871. He was twice married, (1) in 1834 to Julie Perrault (d. 1838) by whom he had three children, and (2) in 1844 to Elisabeth-Suzanne Taschereau, by whom he had seven children. See P. G.
