Desbarats, Georges Paschal (1808-1864), printer and publisher, was born in Quebec, Lower Canada, on August 11, 1808, the son of Pierre-Édouard Desbarats and Marie-Josephte Voyer. He became one of the editors of the Quebec Mercury; and in 1844 he was appointed King's printer. This post he held until his death, in Montreal, on November 12, 1864.
