George Stanley Dingle

Export and Import Merchant, of George S. Dingle, Ltd., 317 Coristine Bldg., Montreal, engaged chiefly in the export of Canadian products to Great Britain and the British Dominions. Born Oshawa, Ont., June 16, 1872. Son of William Thomas and Edna Jane Dingle. Educated: Oshawa Public and High Schools. Graduated from High School and went to work at fifteen years of age. Lived twenty-seven years in the Western provinces, Winnipeg and Calgary, where he was associated for twenty-one years with Tees and Persse Limited, Winnipeg, and rose to the position of Vice-President, which position he resigned in 1916, to take part in the Great War. Active in Y.M.C.A. work and in Church Schools (Presbyterian); interested in Educational matters and anything pertaining to the good of the community. Family all musical, and has personally led Choirs and Orchestras. Served two and one half years during the Great War on the Executive Staff, Canadian Y.M.C.A., rank Hon. Captain, special duties securing and purchasing supplies under Lt.-Col. Birks. Married Mabel Emmett Nelson, June 28, 1895, at Winnipeg, Man. Has two sons and two daughters. Clubs: Canadian; Canada, and Golf Clubs. Recreations: Motoring, golf. In early days was active in bicycle racing, rowing, baseball and tennis. Member, St. Andrews Church, Westmount. Residence: 582 Lansdowne Ave., Westmount, Que.
