George Douglas
Douglas, George (1825-1894), clergyman, was born in Ashkirk, Roxburghshire, Scotland, in October, 1825. He was brought to Canada by his parents in 1832, and lived in Montreal. In 1849 he went to England to study for the Methodist ministry; and in 1850 he was ordained. From 1850 to 1852 he served in the Bermudas; butt in 1853 he returned to Canada. He occupied charges successively at Montreal, Kingston, Toronto, and Hamilton ; and in 1864 he was appointed principal of the Wesleyan Theological College, Montreal. He died at Montreal on February 11, 1894. In 1869 he was made an LL.D. of McGill University. Source: W.
