Gabriel Dumont
Dumont, Gabriel (1838-1906), rebel, was born in Assiniboia in 1838, the son of Isidore Dumont and Louise Laframboise, both half-breeds. He took no part in the North west rebellion of 1870; but he was adjutant-general of the rebel forces in the rebellion of 1885.After the battle of Batoche, he escaped to the United States, and lived there for a number of years. He died at Batoche, Saskatchewan, on May 19, 1906. He married Magdeleine Welkey, a Scottish half-breed, but he had no children. See A.
