Fort Good Hope
Fort Good Hope, a post of the North West Company built in 1804 on the left bank of the Mackenzie river in lat. 131°, long. 67° 27'. It was the most northerly post of the North West Company. After the union of the North West and Hudson's Bay Companies in 1821, it was moved about 100 miles upstream to Manitou island, near the Ramparts. This fort was destroyed by the ice in 1836, and was then rebuilt on the mainland. The present post is on the right, bank opposite Manitou island. Source : W.
