Fort Vincennes
Fort Vincennes, a post built by the French in 1702 on the Wabash river, about 50 miles below the site of the present town of Vincennes, Indiana. It was rebuilt in 1710, and became an important link in the French ring of forts from Canada to Louisiana. It was surrendered to the British in 1763, but was captured by the Americans during the Revolutionary war, and was named by them Fort Patrick Henry. Source : W.
