Fort Maurepas
Fort Maurepas, a post built by Pierre de la Vérendrye in 1734 on the left bank of the Red river, about 12 miles south of its outlet in lake Winnipeg. Some time prior to 1749, it appears to have been transferred to the mouth of the Winnipeg river. See N. M. Crouse, The location of Fort Maurepas (Can. hist. rev., 1928). Source : W.
