Fort La Tour
Fort La Tour, a fort built in 1631 by Claude de la Tour at the mouth of the St. John river, and probably on Portland point, on the east side of the harbour. It was captured by Charnisay in 1645, and destroyed. See W. F. Ganong, Where was Fort Latour ? (New Brunswick Magazine, 1898), and J. Hannay, The site of Fort Latour (New Brunswick Magazine, 1898).
