Fort Ellice
Fort Ellice, a trading-post built by the Hudson's Bay Company on the Assiniboine river, about 5 miles below the mouth of the Qu'Appelle river, soon after 1821. By 1862 it had declined to such an extent that its only purpose for some time had been to supply pemmican and dried meat for the fur brigades and the northern posts. It was discontinued soon after 1869. Source : W. Stewart WALLACE, ed., The Encyclopedia of Canada, Vol. II, Toronto, University Associates of Canada, 1948, 411p., p. 368.
