Fathers of St. Vincent of Paul
Fathers of St. Vincent of Paul. The Congregation of the Fathers of St. Vincent de Paul (P.S.V.) was founded in Paris in 1845 by Father Jean-Léon Le Prévost. It was instituted for the spiritual welfare of the poor and labouring classes, to foster the education of the orphans, to take charge of patronages of apprentices, labourers, and soldiers, and to promote catechetical teaching and retreats for adults and young people. The mother house of the Congregation is in Paris . In the diocese of Quebec the Fathers of St. Vincent de Paul have direction of the work of the Patronage de Québec, of the Patronage Bigaouet and of the Patronage Notre-Dame in Lévis. They also conduct a house of closed retreats in Quebec. In the diocese of St. Hyacinthe, they direct the Patronage of St. Vincent de Paul, a hostel for students, orphans and apprentices as well as a young men's association In the diocese of Montreal, they have the Le Prévost Patronage and a hostel.
