Edmund William Forrest

Forrest, Edmund William (d.1880), soldier and author, was born in London, England, and entered at an early age the service of the East India Company. He served throughout the Persian war and the Indian mutiny; but a sunstroke, ending in blindness, brought about his retirement from the company's service, with the rank of captain. He settled in Canada ; and he died at Hull, Quebec, on July 4, 1880. After coming to Canada, he wrote Ned Fortescue; or, Roughing it through life (Ottawa, 1869).
