Lieut.-Col. Edmund Graves Meredith Cape , D.S.O.

Engineer and General Contractor, 10 Cathcart Street, Montreal. Born Hamilton, Ont., 1878, son of John Cape, Esq. Educated: McGill University (B.A.Sc., 1898). Asst. Engineer, Lake Superior Power Co., Sault Ste. Marie; Chief Engineer during construction Canada Car Co.; practised for some years as a Civil Engineer, Montreal; Member, Engineering Institute of Canada; Member, Montreal Board of Trade; President, E. G. M. Cape & Co., Engineers and Contractors, Montreal. Governor, Montreal General Hospital and Western Hospital. Was O.C. 2nd Heavy Brigade, Canadian Artillery. Recruited and commanded 3rd Canadian Siege Battery, and took same overseas, 1915; trained in England and went to France, June, 1916; mentioned in Sir Douglas Haig's despatches (twice), after the battles of the Somme and Vimy Ridge; awarded D.S.O. after later battle. Married Elizabeth Lillian Guest Smith, Montreal, Que., 1908; has three sons and one daughter. Clubs: St. James's; Mount Royal; Forest and Stream; Montreal Hunt; Montreal Racquet; Montreal Indoor Tennis; Royal Montreal Golf; Royal St. Lawrence Yacht. Anglican. Residence: 1 Redpath Crescent, Montreal.
