Edmond Boisvert de Nevers
Nevers, Edmond Boisvert de (1862-1906), author and journalist, was born at La Baie-du-Febvre, Lower Canada, in 1862. He was educated at the seminary of Nicolet, and in 1888 he went to Europe. Here he studied for a time under the historian Mommsen at Berlin. He travelled extensively in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal ; and he finally settled down in Paris as a journalist in connection with the Havas agency. Failing health brought about his return to Canada ; and he obtained an appointment in the civil service of the province of Quebec. He died at Central Falls, Rhode Island, on April 15, 1906. He was the author of L'avenir du peuple canadien français (Paris, 1896), and L'âme américaine (2 vols., Paris,1900). Consult the biography of Nevers in the biographical section of the site.
