Dorval

Dorval, a town on the south-west shore of the island of Montreal, on the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Railways, and on a point of land jutting into lake St. Louis, 13 miles west of the city of Montreal. It was created a municipality in 1895, and a town in 1903; and it was named after Jean-Baptiste Bouchard, surnamed Dorval, who held large tracts of land in this neighbourhood during the French régime. The island of Dorval, lying opposite the town, was itself incorporated as a town in 1915. The town is chiefly notable as a summer and country resort; and one of the most important airports in the Province of Quebec is located here.
