Dominique Mondelet
Mondelet, Dominique (1799-1863), executive councillor of Lower Canada, was born at St. Marc, Lower Canada, on January 23, 1799 , the son of jean Marie Mondelet, notary public. He was called to the bar of Lower Canada, and practised law in Montreal. In 1831 he was elected to represent the county of Montreal in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada; and in 1832 he was appointed a member of the Executive Council of the province. The Assembly thereupon declared his seat vacant; and in the elections of 1834 he was defeated by Louis Joseph Papineau. He continued to be an executive councillor until 1841, and he was a member of the Special Council of 1838. In 1842 he was appointed a judge of the court of Queen's Bench at Three Rivers, and in 1849 a judge of the Superior Court. He died at Three Rivers on February 19, 1863. Source : W.
