Daughters of Providence of St. Brieuc

Daughters of Providence of St. Brieuc. This Congregation was established in France in 1818 by Father Jean-Marie de la Mennais, who also founded the Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Instruction. The aim of the Society being education, care of the sick and of the orphan, the sisters are engaged in all charitable works. Bishop Pascal, O.M.I., who called them to Canada in 1897, established them in his own diocese of Prince Albert, where they now conduct three schools. The Congregation has also extended its field of action to the dioceses of Saskatoon and Regina and Edmonton, and has enrolled 90 Canadian girls in its activities.
