Congregation of the Resurrection

Congregation of the Resurrection. The congregation of the Resurrection (C.R.) was founded in Paris, France, in 1836, by three young Polish converts to the Roman Catholic Church: Bogdan Janiski, Peter Semenenko, and Jerome Kajsienriz. Their aim was to work among immigrants, and to devote themselves to good works in parishes, missions, colleges, and seminaries. In 1857, the congregation established itself in Ontario ; and here it conducts at present prosperous institutions of learning, such as St. Jerome's College in Kitchener, and Scollard College in North Bay. Members of the congregation are also in charge of several important parishes of the Hamilton and Sault Ste. Marie dioceses.
