Dablon, Claude (1618?-1697), missionary, was born at Dieppe, France, about 1618. He became a member of the Society of Jesus, and was sent to Canada in 1655. In 1670 he was appointed superior of the Jesuit missions in Canada, and he edited the Relation of 1671-2. He died in Quebec in 1697. A description by him of the journey of Marquette to the Mississippi has been published in J. G. Shea, Discovery and exploration of the Mississippi valley (New York, 1853).

[A village in the Lac St.-Jean district is named after father Dablon.]
