Charlevoix County
Charlevoix, a county in north-eastern Quebec, is on the north shore of the St. Lawrence river, and lies between Montmorency county and the 48th parallel of latitude. It is named after Pierre François Xavier de Charlevoix, the historian of New France. It is a wild and mountainous region, and settlement is chiefly confined to the shore of the St. Lawrence. Chief town, Baie-Saint-Paul. Pop. 25,662 [in 1948]. [Charlevoix is today a prime tourist area of Quebec.] Source : W.
