Charles Auguste Forbin-Janson

Forbin-Janson, Charles Auguste Marie Joseph (1785-1844), French Roman Catholic prelate, was born in Paris, France, on November 3, 1785 , and died at Marseilles, France, on July 11, 1844. He was ordained a priest in 1811, was created bishop of Nancy in 1824, and from 1839 to 1842 carried on evangelistic work in the United States and Canada. He interested himself in the fate of the French Canadians exiled to New South Wales after the rebellion of 1837-8.
