Andrew Sidney Dawes

 

Vice-President and General Manager, Atlas Construction Co., Ltd., 37 Belmont Street, Montreal. Born Lachine, Que., Dec. 5, 1888, son of James P. Dawes and Gertrude J. Brook. Educated: Montreal High School ; St. Alban's, Brockville ; McGill University (B.Sc., 1910). First summer spent on a C.P.R. survey; following twelve months in the Canadian Westinghouse Shops, Hamilton; two years at Saskatoon as Manager for Collyer & Brock, Electrical Contractors; three years with the Atlas Construction Co., Ltd., as Engineer and Estimator. In 1914, enlisted in C.F.A., arrived in France, May, 1915; posted to 8th Battery , C.F.A.; and promoted to Captain; wounded, Nov., 1917; March, 1918, attained Majority and awarded M.C.; demobilized, April, 1919. On demobilization, rejoined The Atlas Construction Co., and was elected Vice-President and General Manager. Married Grace Elspeth Paterson, daughter of Alex. Paterson, Oct. 11, 1919 ; has one daughter. Clubs: St. James's; University; Royal Montreal Golf; St. Bruno Country; M.A.A.A.; Canadian; Indoor Tennis. Recreations: Golf, tennis. Independent. Presbyterian. Residence: 143 Drummond Street, Montreal.
