Rev. Allworth Eardley

Minister, Douglas Methodist Church, Montreal. Born Chapeltown, Sheffield, Eng., July 7, 1873, son of the Rev. Robert Eardley, B.A. (Trinity College, Dublin), and Laura S. (Pope) Eardley, daughter of Jonathan Pope, Plymouth, Eng., whose brother, Joseph Pope, with his family, have been and are prominent in Canadian life. Educated: Manchester Grammar School; Wesleyan Theological College, Richmond, Surrey. Appointed in 1897, to Canton, China, but prevented by accident from going. Served for twenty years in English Circuits, mainly in London, Leicester, Lancashire and Yorkshire. Appointed in 1916, Chairman and General Superintendent of the Bahamas District. For five years Superintendent of the Nassau Circuit and Chairman of District with forty-two Churches, including two "Coloured" Churches in Miami and Key West, Fla. Invited to Douglas Church in 1921. Married Nellie H. Sanders, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sanders of Banbury, Eng., Aug. 1, 1900; has two sons and two daughters. Clubs: Dickens Fellowship; Rosemount Golf Club. Recreations: Golf and boating. Methodist. Residence: 996 Dorchester Street W., Montreal.
