Born Belfast, Ireland, Sept. 6th, 1874, son of the late William and R. L. Francis. Educated: Glasgow High School and Belfast, Ireland. After leaving school, commenced with G. Heyn & Sons, Belfast, Ireland (Managing owners of the "Head" Line Steamers), remaining with them until leaving for Canada in February, 1914, to join the firm of McLean, Kennedy, Limited. Member of the Shipping Federation of Canada; Member of the Montreal Board of Trade; Justice of the Peace for the District of Montreal. Married Lucy, only daughter of Venerable Archdeacon Norton, D.D., of Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, Rector of Montreal, Dec. 21, 1912; has one son, Alfred Norton Francis. Clubs: Royal Ulster Yacht, Ireland; Royal North of Ireland Yacht, Ireland; St. James's, Montreal; Canada; Montreal; Royal St. Lawrence Yacht; Mount Royal Tennis; Arts Club; Automobile Club of Canada.
