Alfred Duranleau

DURANLEAU, Alfred, K.C., M.L.A.,  - of Monty, Duranleau, Ross & Angers, 90 St. James Street, Montreal. Born West Farnham, Que., Nov. 1, 1871, son of Napoléon [farmer] and Adelaide (Patenaude) Duranleau. Educated: Ste. Marie de Monnoir College; Laval (B.A., 1897). Called to Quebec Bar, 1897. Created K.C., 1915. In 1898 went into partnership with Hon. R. Monty, which continued until 1921, when the firm was changed to present title. Elected to Quebec Parliament in February, 1923, for Laurier Division of Montreal, in the Conservative interest [Defeated in 1927. Elected for Verchères to the House of Commons in 1930. Appointed to the Cabinet as Minister of the Navy (1930-1935). Resigned his position in 1935. Appointed judge to the Superior Court of Quebec (1935-1951). Died in Montreal, March 14, 1951]. Ex-Member of the Council of Quebec Bar; ex-Member, Board of Examiners of Quebec Bar [Bâtonnier of the Montreal Bar and of the Bar of the Province of Quebec in 1931]. Governor, Notre-Dame Hospital. Member, Chambre de Commerce. Married Laure Monty, Aug. 22, 1898; has four sons and two daughters. Clubs: St. Denis; Alliance Francaise; Club des Journalistes. Society: K. of C. Recreations: Tennis and reading. Conservative. Roman Catholic. Residence: 71 St. Joseph Boulevard W., Montreal.
