Alfred Bickerton Evans

Vice-President, National Drug & Chemical Co. of Canada, Ltd., 34 St. Gabriel Street, Montreal; Director, Evans Sons, Lescher & Webb, Ltd., London, Liverpool and New York City. Born Rock Ferry, Cheshire, Eng., son of the late Edward Evans, High Sheriff and Deputy Lieutenant for Denbighshire, 1891-93, and Margaret (Paterson), a native of Scotland. Educated: Preparatory School, Harrow, England; Shrewsbury School, Eng. Apprentice with his father, Evans Sons & Co., Wholesale Druggists, Liverpool, Eng.; after passing through all the branches of the drug and pharmaceutical departments he moved to Canada, 1885, to take the office of Managing Director, Evans & Sons, Ltd., Montreal, Toronto and New York City; this firm was merged with the National Drug & Chemical Co. of Canada, Ltd., 1906, when Mr. Evans was given present office. Member, Council, Montreal Board of Trade, 1900-01. Married Agnes R. Cassils, daughter of late John and Agnes Cassils, 1894; two sons (the eldest, late Captain E. C. Evans, 42nd Battn., Royal Highlanders of Canada, died in 1919, of wounds received in the Great War, at Amiens, August 8, 1918), and one daughter.
